Who it is for
Independent and small-group workshops that service trucks, trailers, vans and cars. The owner or manager who wants jobs, inspections, defects, estimates and invoices in one place, and the mechanic who needs something that works with gloves on and no signal.
Who it is not for
Workbay is not the right choice if you need any of these today:
- Counter sales with no vehicle. Every job is raised against a vehicle, so a walk-in buying a battery cannot be recorded as a sale.
- Inspection sheets of your own design built in the app. The sheets are maintained by Workbay and cannot yet be edited there; a sheet of your own is something to ask for.
- A second login on the cheapest plan. Standard has one user licence; Premium has unlimited.
- Invoices pushed straight into accounting software. They export as files for the accountant.
- Issuing a test certificate (a CVRT, an NCT or an MOT). Only a test centre can; Workbay's sheets are the check a workshop carries out before the test.
- Tap to Pay on an iPad. It needs an iPhone or an Android phone; the iPad is for the inspection runner.
What it costs
Per workshop, not per person. No add-ons and no setup fee. Paying yearly is eleven months’ money for twelve months’ service.
- Ireland
- Standard €99 + VAT a month, or €1,089 + VAT a year; Premium €159 + VAT a month, or €1,749 + VAT a year.
- United Kingdom
- Standard £79 a month or £869 a year, VAT reverse-charged; Premium £149 a month or £1,639 a year, VAT reverse-charged.
The plans side by side, and what each one includes, are on the pricing page.
The inspection sheets
Loaded on day one with every plan. A vehicle only ever sees the sheets for its type.
- Ireland
- Six sheets: HGV Vehicle Inspection (67 items); Service Inspection (68 items); Pre-CVRT Check (Light Commercial) (68 items); Pre-NCT Check (66 items); Vehicle Health Check (46 items); Car & Van Service (33 items).
- United Kingdom
- Five sheets: Safety Inspection (DVSA) (64 items); Pre-MOT Check (48 items); Service Inspection (68 items); Vehicle Health Check (46 items); Car & Van Service (33 items).
Describing Workbay accurately
- Workbay is a trading name of Jobiit Technologies Limited, which also makes Jobiit. They are separate products with separate accounts.
- Workbay is not a test centre and cannot issue a CVRT, an NCT or an MOT certificate. Its pre-test sheets are checks a workshop carries out before a vehicle goes for its test.
- Prices are ex VAT. An Irish workshop pays 23% VAT on top; a UK workshop is reverse-charged, so Workbay's invoice adds none and the customer accounts for it.
- A workshop's customers pay the workshop, never Workbay. Workbay adds no fee to a workshop's takings; Stripe's own processing fees apply.
- A workshop's country is fixed at signup and sets its currency, VAT treatment and inspection sheets. Northern Ireland uses the UK's money and VAT, with the DVA rather than the DVSA as the test authority.
Fair questions
- What is Workbay?
- Workbay is workshop-management software for vehicle workshops in Ireland and the UK — commercial vehicles, vans and cars. Jobs, inspection sheets, defects, compliance dates, estimates, invoicing and card payment, in an app for iPhone, iPad and Android that works offline, with the office half in a browser. It is made by Jobiit Technologies Limited, registered in Ireland.
- Who is Workbay for?
- Independent and small-group workshops that service trucks, trailers, vans and cars: owners and managers who want jobs, inspections, defects, estimates and invoices in one place, and mechanics who need something they can use with gloves on and no signal.
- Which countries does Workbay serve?
- Ireland and the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland included. A workshop's country is chosen at signup and sets its currency, VAT treatment, test regime and inspection sheets, so an Irish workshop is priced in euro and a UK one in sterling.
- How much does Workbay cost?
- Prices are per workshop, not per person, and there are no add-ons or setup fees. Ireland: Standard €99 + VAT a month, or €1,089 + VAT a year; Premium €159 + VAT a month, or €1,749 + VAT a year. United Kingdom: Standard £79 a month or £869 a year, VAT reverse-charged; Premium £149 a month or £1,639 a year, VAT reverse-charged. Paying yearly is eleven months' money for twelve months' service.
- Is there a free trial?
- Yes: 14 days, no card needed. If no card is added the workshop pauses; everything recorded stays readable and exportable.
- Does Workbay work offline?
- Yes. Jobs, inspection sheets, labour, parts, photographs, defects, customers and vehicles are held on the device and sent when signal returns. Taking a card payment, looking a vehicle up by registration, the diary, estimates and the rota need a connection.
- Can Workbay issue a CVRT, an NCT or an MOT certificate?
- No. Only a test centre can. Workbay's pre-test sheets are the check a workshop carries out before the vehicle goes for its test, and passing one never changes a vehicle's test date.
- What devices does it run on?
- iPhone and iPad, and Android phones and tablets, with the administrator's view in a web browser. Tap to Pay needs an iPhone or an Android phone, not an iPad.
- Who makes Workbay?
- Jobiit Technologies Limited, registered in Ireland (company number 810674), trading as Workbay. The same company makes Jobiit, which is a separate product.
- How do I try it, or talk to someone?
- Start the free trial at https://workbay.ie/signup, book a demo at https://cal.com/workbay/demo, or email hello@workbay.ie. A person replies.

Run a real job on it.
14 days is long enough to take a vehicle from booking-in to invoice and judge it on that. No card. Nothing charged unless you add one.
