Fair questions

Why is there no VAT on the invoice?
Workbay is sold by Jobiit Technologies Limited, a company registered in Ireland. Supplying a UK business puts the place of supply in the United Kingdom, so the invoice is outside the scope of Irish VAT and we charge none. You account for the UK VAT yourself under the reverse charge — if you are VAT-registered and using Workbay for your taxable business, you declare it and recover it on the same return, so there is normally nothing further to pay. The amount we take from you is the price on the card.
What if we are not VAT-registered?
You can still buy Workbay — we ask you to confirm you are buying it for your business instead of giving a VAT number. One thing to know: the value of reverse-charge services bought from outside the UK counts towards the UK VAT registration threshold, so if you are near it, mention this subscription to your accountant.
What happens after the 14 days?
Three days before the trial ends we email your administrator a link to add a card. Add one and the plan you chose starts from the day the trial ends, in pounds, with an invoice by email each time. Do nothing and the workshop pauses: everything you recorded stays readable and exportable, and adding a card later picks up where you left off.
Does it know about MOTs?
Every vehicle carries its MOT or annual test date, tacho calibration and service dates, typed off the certificate once and shown before they fall due. In Northern Ireland that is the DVA's certificate. A pre-test check the workshop does never moves the test date — only the test does.
What's a user licence?
A person who can sign in to the app. Standard includes one — it is the plan for the owner who does the work — and Premium is unlimited. Mechanics whose work you record don't need a licence unless they sign in themselves.
Can I change plan later?
Yes, from the billing portal — Standard to Premium or back, monthly to yearly or back, prorated to the day. Your workshop stays in pounds whichever plan it is on.
Do my customers pay Workbay?
Never. On Premium, your customers pay you — card, Tap to Pay or bank transfer land in your own Stripe account, in your name, on your statement. Workbay adds no fee on your takings; Stripe's own processing fees apply.
